Hello and welcome to Bermuda's Conscious Birth website. What would it be
like to give birth naturally, in a safe atmosphere without unnecessary
intervention, surrounded by people we love and choose to be with?
My name is Sophia Cannonier. I am a proud and empowered mother of
Bermuda's 1st planned home birthed babies, Ravi 9/17/04and Vidya
8/16/07. Our children's births have been the most incredible and
empowering accomplishment of my life thus far. I have been moved to take
action for all women living in Bermuda and to press for change in the way
policy makers view birth in Bermuda and the way we care for our women in
this most impressionable and important time in her life.
I am a certified Feldenkrais practitioner (www.Feldenkrais.com), birth doula
(dona.org) and a trained postpartum doula. I am a Master teacher/Certifier of
the Pilates Method (themethodpilates.com) and a Certified Yogi for
Pregnancy Instructor (goldenbridgeyoga.com).

the lives and thoughts of many people on the island and I am also a Yoga for Pregnancy instructor
(Gurumuk Kaur Kalsa).
In my free time, I am also studying to be a Certified Professional Midwife (www.mana.org) through
www.ancientartmidwifery.com.
To date, I have supported over 200 birthing women and couples, both at home and in the hospital. I have
forged a safe path for home birth on the island and would be happy to assist you in planning the birth of
your dreams, may it be at home or in the hospital.
My husband, Michael Watson, who has caught both of our children, is a much sought after international
anatomy and movement lecturer, a thoughtful and experienced yoga mentor /teacher, and a Kinesis
Movement Integration (KMI) practitioner (www.mindfulintegration.com)
Together we are enjoying our children on their life learning journey (www.rethinkingeducation.net) enriching
our beautiful island home and raising consciousness in our community. I hope you enjoy this site and I
